hallo Bad Mister
i'd like to use with my motif some external libraries such us EWQL Hollywood Strings and Brass.the quality of these strings is just incomparable with the ones on motif.
how does it work, could i install them onto motif and play them as motif sounds or i have to play them only from computer using motif as midi keyboard?
my system is:
motif XF8
fire wire
2 flash memory cards
cubase 7.5
yamaha monitors
macbook pro 10.8.5, 2.4GHz Intel Core i5, 4GB RAM 1333MHz DDR3

Sorry, I know of no libraries made for the Motif XF by EastWest/QuantumLeap.

Yes, when using the Motif XF with a computer via FW (or via USB), you can use it as a MIDI keyboard controller. That is exactly what we've been going over these last several weeks! When you set the LOCAL CONTROL parameter OFF, the XF generates MIDI commands in response to key presses and controller movements that travel OUT via the selected MIDI OUT port (these commands are not used to trigger the "local" tone engine - they go exclusively OUT via MIDI). These can be used to trigger any synthesizer device, be it real hardware or virtual software, be it a keyboard or drum module, it could even be routed to control lighting or whatever. You determine where the data is directed within the DAW (Cubase).

Quick Review
As we've covered, the XF is designated as a qualified "input device" inside the DAW: the MIDI data arrives in CUBASE via the DEVICES > DEVICE SETUP > MIDI > Midi Port Setup ... This is where you selected "Motif XF MAIN" as an input device for your Tracks... in the "IN ALL MIDI INPUTS" column. Then you have selected (highlighted) a MIDI track of Cubase assigned to receive as MIDI IN signal from "ALL MIDI INPUTS" (as defined above, this includes the XF). This action allows this Track to determine WHERE the signal goes next...

What ever you select as a MIDI OUT for this track will sound in response to your selected MIDI INPUT DEVICE. If you select the Motif XF you can select which Part by setting the MIDI OUT Channel 1-16 of that Track.

If you set the MIDI OUT of a track to the YC-3B VST Plugin or Prologue or HALion Sonic SE or EWQL or whatever, the Midi data will be directed to that VSTi.
It will not trigger the XF tone engine because LOCAL CONTROL is OFF.

Making sense, yet? You can trigger *any* VSTi - whether they are multi-timbral, like the XF and HALion Sonic SE or are a single instrument like the YC-3B and Prologue, will determine how you address them via MIDI. If you are asking me how to specifically address the EWQL Library, I'm sorry that question is best left to the folks at a EastWest, I'm not familiar with that VSTi. The nice thing is you either address it as a single instrument or as a multi-timbral instrument with MIDI channels. And you already know how to do this.
