Is it possible to create a noise gate effect on MOTIF XF? I couldn't find any info about it online and I learned that MOTIF classic had this effect but it's dropped in later versions.

If not possible at all, Is there any chance that we get this effect in (hopefully) future updates?

The Motif XF has been officially discontinued, it is highly unlikely that more updates are going to be included. Clearly in the last update (1.50) it can be seen that the new HD REVERBs and Guitar Amp simulations (developed for use in Montage) were added to Motif XF.

That said, no there is no utility Noise Gate, per se, but you do have the EARLY REFLECTION (which can be used to recreate the popular "gated reverb" effect). You don't mention if you are attempting to use it as a "fix it" utility to shorten a sound / remove quiet portions or are going for the Phil Collins/Peter Gabriel "gated" vocal effect.

If the former, no luck. If the later try the Early Reflection.

Montage has both (just saying).

Thanks Phil. I understand. I meant to use it exactly as a gate (above the threshold level passes the gate, below that silence). It's very unfortunate though. You mentioned in an earlier post that MOTIF XF is not dead... but apparently it is? I was hoping that since this effect has been implemented before it might be easy to bring it back but then again I'm not familiar with how XF is built and it might be impossible.

I hope I could purchase this machine earlier 🙁 I mean these are some nice features to have in a hardware...
