To elaborate: With my external computer linked via USB to the MRXS, I can change the MRXS midi setting from USB [where my EWI will not play properly, but the MRXS will accept usb midi commands to change patch settings] back to MIDI [where my EWI will play properly]. But next, and this is the main problem and question, I want to change the midi setting [via usb from the computer] from MIDI back to USB to allow further commands from the computer.
I have tried the setup suggested by Bad Mister to use a DAW with a track set to MRXS 3 and out to MRXS 1, but the EWI has a considerable latent response and is not usable to play live with this set-up. I thought it was the usb 2 cables I was using, but the USB 3.0 cables I bought don't fit in the USB (2.0 ? or 1.0?) of the MRXS input.
Another question is: Does a midi Y jack exist that will accept the midi output cable from the EWI and spit to accept midi patch change output commands from my computer via another midi cable - all providing input to the MRXS midi input?
Thanks,
Brian

Answer:
If you can send system exclusive messages then the answer is YES. The sysex string is as follows: F0 43 10 7F 03 00 00 18 dd F7
Where dd is the data value from 00 - 02
00 = MIDI
01 = USB
02 = mLAN (you don't want to send this value or you will have to go to the fron panel to get out of the mLAN Mode)Another question is: Does a midi Y jack exist that will accept the midi output cable from the EWI and spit to accept midi patch change output commands from my computer via another midi cable - all providing input to the MRXS midi input?
Answer:
Y-cables are not what you need. You will need a MIDI Patch Bay. There are different varieties for both USB and standard MIDI cables. I'm not sure about this... but it sounds like you need a MIDI Merge box (2 MIDI Ins and 1 MIDI Out). MIDI In and MIDI Out connectors have special processors called Uarts. MIDI is not like an audio connection... MIDI is a serial digital signal that requires special processors to keep the data from getting corrupted.
I'm trying to keep this simple, but I hope this helps.
