Loading an X3V Voice File

Hello everyone. I am in the process of making some voices for the MOXF and MOTIF XF. I currently only own an MOXF but I need help with loading an X3V file into a MOTIF XF. I don't own a MOTIF XF but I just need to help some friends of mine load my X3V files I have into their MOTIF XF.

I just need to know what to choose in the File window when loading a X3V file. Specifically, how to point the Voices in the X3V to any of the User Banks and to make sure "with Sample" is checked. I know the step by step process for the MOXF but not the MOTIF XF. If Bad Mister can help me with a step by step tutorial I'd greatly appreciate it!

.X3V is an ALL VOICE file for the Motif XF.

You can use either Load TYPE = "All Voice", or "Voice", to load literally all the User Voices, or Load individual Voices into memory, respectively. Or "1 Bank Voice" which lets you load one entire Bank of Voices from a folder User1, User2, User3, User4, or UDrum.

You don't mention if the XF has Flash Boards installed. On the XF you can direct Waveforms and Samples to one of three accessible destinations:
USER - 128MB of built-in volatile SDRAM
FL1 - Flash Board in slot 1
FL2 - Flash Board in slot 2

You must tell the data where to go when you setup the FILE (LOAD) screen... this will give the XF the necessary instructions to ensure each Voice "knows" where to look for its audio source data. These LOAD Options will appear in the lower right side of the setup screen. When a file is created on the Motif XF it is given a specific extension that indicates *where* the Waveforms and Samples were located when the author made the file.

.n3.X3V = no Flash Board data, if any Waveforms and Samples they are contained in the User folder
.n2.X3V = no Flash Board data for slot2, Waveforms and Samples are contained in the FL1 folder
.n1.X3V = no Flash Board data for slot1, Waveform and Samples are contained in the FL2 folder

If the data was created in a third party editor, it is a good idea to use the "n1", "n2", "n3" convention, so you are not guessing about which of the three folders within the file contains the Audio source data.

Press [FILE]
Set TYPE = "All Voice" or "Voice" or "1Bank Voice"
Use the Cursor arrows to move into the Directory area, use the Data Dial to highlight your File Name .X3V
Using the right cursor arrow move the cursor to the lower region of the screen.

Loading as "All Voice" will replace All User Voices
If you opt to load "Voice", then when you press Enter, you will see a list of Voices within the first Bank of the file data... use the [USER 1], [USER 2], [USER 3], [USER 4] and [USER DR] buttons to view individual Voices within the file.
Highlight the Voice name you wish to load... then using the right cursor move to the lower portion and direct it to a destination in your internal User Bank.

On the lower right side of the screen you direct the data from the File Folder you know contains the Waveform and Samples...to a destination in your XF.

If your file is Type ".n3.X3V" this means if any audio data it is in the SDRAM (User) folder
USR > USR ___ this would be used when the audio data was in the 128MB of SDRAM and you want to restore it to SDRAM
USR > FL1 ___ this would be used when you want to install data from the RAM file folder to your Flash Board 1
USR > FL2 ___ this would be used when you want to install data from the RAM file folder to your Flash Board 2

If you have a ".n2.X3V"
You would direct
FL1 > USR ____ this routes data from the file FL1 to the USR SDRAM
FL1 > FL1 _____ this routes data from the file FL1 back to FL1
FL1 > FL2 _____ this routes data from FL1 to the FL2

If you have a ".n1.X3V"
You would direct
FL2 > USR ____ this routes data from the file FL2 to the USR SDRAM
FL2 > FL1 _____ this routes data from the file FL2 back to FL1
FL2 > FL2 _____ this routes data from the file FL2 to the FL2

You are additionally given options to load "without Sample" when you know the data already is installed on a Flash Board.
You don't mention Flash Boards at all so this info may or may not be necessary...

Let's assume your Waveforms and Samples are in the XF's 128MB SDRAM (USR), you would set the three options in the lower right corner as follows:
USR > USR
FL1 > None
FL2 > None

This translates to: data in the file that was in USR when the file was made will be returned to USR SDRAM when this file is loaded. All Voices with Samples will have their Waveforms directing to locations in the 128MB of the XF's memory. There will be No Changes to data on the FL1, FL2 Flash Boards.

When a file has Waveforms and Samples that were in the SDRAM they are automatically loaded - simply direct them where you desire.

Once you have your data routed you can review it all on the screen... in your Directory you will see your selection. The Type indicates what you are going to load. The internal destination is indicated. The lower right side Load Options for Audio data is set to direct the Waveforms and Samples... press [SF2] LOAD to execute.

Thank you very much Bad Mister! Yes the user's XF has flash installed as these voices I am sending them do contain new samples. I will write my documentation accordingly now. Thank you.
