Hello everybody. i have a motif xf. I need to configure the motif and cubase 5 so that I can work on the motif through the cubase 5. driver and editor installed. Who can help me? Thanks you!
You can certainly get help here on YamahaSynth.com
But for help with any setup you would need to have certain gear.
First, you'll need a computer to run Cubase 5 (we assume you have one, you'll need to mention it so help can be specific rather than just generic)
Second you'll need to also provide anyone attempting to help info on what you want to accomplish, i.e., MIDI Recording, Audio Recording, both.
Third, you'll need to provide us with how you intend to move audio to the computer (FW, external audio interface) and how you intend on routing signal to your speakers (speakers must connect to your audio interface)
We cannot even tell you which driver to download, yet, until we know what type of computer and what you want to record, MIDI or Audio. Let us know.
thank you for helping me. i have computer, FW external audio interface, speakers must connect to my audio interface. i want playing to motif, send midi signal to cubase, edit everything and record.
I want to know a lot about Motif .. record audio, add new sounds, and much more. but do it gradually. Thank you for your kindness!;)
Computer is a Macintosh or a Windows computer?
Computer is running on an Operating System... Windows 10, or Mac Sierra, etc., etc ?
These things will help us, help you.
It is as if... You are asking "how to drive?" We begin by asking, "do you want to drive a truck or a car, diesel or premium?
The FW connection between the Synth and computer will be all that you need for both MIDI and Audio communication. You will need the appropriate Yamaha Steinberg FW Driver for you computer type and Operating System. Once the driver is installed and working on your computer, you will be able to communicate both MIDI and Audio between the XF and Cubase.
The XF becomes both a MIDI and Audio Interface for your computer and any devices connected to the Motif XF. You can connect external synths through the XF, you could connect a microphone and record through the XF, It is an audio and MIDI Interface for the computer.
Connect your studio monitors to the audio interface... in this case the Motif XF Main LR outputs.
If you have more instruments and devices you want to connect, you have options to include more inputs as you grow your studio.
i have windows 7, motif connect usb cabel to computer and studio monitors connect to motif xf main lr outputs. i install yamaha steinberg fw driver.
what should ido next ?
I thought you had a Motif XF with FW16E FireWire Expansion Board... I see now you mean you have an external FireWire audio interface... I wish you would say what you have
Then that changes how you are going to get MIDI and audio to the computer. You can connect the Motif XF to your computer via USB (using the Yamaha USB-MIDI Driver version version 3.1.4 for Windows...) This connection is MIDI ONLY. You will need to connect the analog audio Left and Right Outputs of the Motif XF to two channels on your audio interface, and connect the Left and Right Output of your audio interface to your monitor speakers.
Whatever your audio interface is ??? please contact the makers of that for whatever driver it uses and for information connecting it to your computer.
Your speakers should connect to the device that is acting as your audio interface (we don't know, still, what that is...)
hey. what it this? (Motif XF with FW16E FireWire Expansion Board) . yes, my motif connect to usb and my audio interface connect to FW fire wire cable.ok step by step. i need set up my motif and cubase to work midi files in cubase. audio let's leave for later.. thanks !!
Here is the article from the "LEARN" area of this site for setting up the Motif XF via MIDI with Cubase. Take you time, and if you get stuck - post back here
thanks for all. I set it up as shown. all works but when I press I do not hear a sound and the other vst I hear a sound and the controllers work accordingly. no sound at Motif . what should I do?
tuk tuk no sound
The sound... tsk, tsk, the sound will have to do with your Audio Interface. Please contact whomever makes your Audio Interface for how to monitor sound. Make sure the main Left and Right Outputs of your synth are connected to your audio interface, and that your audio interface is connected to your speakers.
hey
with a sound all connection ok. when I open another vst I play the motif and the sound is there, the controllers are working. when I open motif xf vst, the signal there is no sound
I set everything up as shown on your link. why can not I hear the sound ??? beeeeeeeee !!!!!
