Spent hours. Data gets copied fine to usb.
But how to load them on to the XF?
Presseing File, I see the data, I press save.
Tried this with songs (didnt appear in XF songs)
When copying all voices, they dont show on the usb, when connecting to the XF.

I see a problem... if you want to LOAD don’t push SAVE.

In general, when moving data from one product to another, you must appreciate that in order for the transfer to be completely successful you need to be aware of how the data you are transferring is being referenced in each product.

Here’s how that will impact you: when you move User Voices from XS to XF, there is complete compatibility because the XF has the ability to read the XS file and recreate the programs in the XF. It “knows” what XF Waveform to get for each XS Waveform so that the Voice sound as expected, even if the Waveform is in a different numbered location. The XF has many more Waveforms than the XS.

When you have created new Songs and Patterns, the transfer can be trickier because your MIXING Setup “points to” program locations as listed in the XS... the same Locator may now “point to” a different program in the XF. This is true when USER VOICE locations are “pointed to” by the XS data, you must ensure they occupy the corresponding USER location in the XF.

If you stored your USER VOICES in your MIXING by creation a “Mix Voice”, then your Songs and Patterns will translate fairly smoothly between the XS and XF. The XF comes standard with 128MB of RAM, for more storage of custom Waveforms you’ll need FL512M or FL1024M Flash Boards.

I now solved the problem. The reason was really stupid, but maybe useful for some to know.

When entering the usb, I didn't see the files, they simply wasn't shown on the screen. On my laptop, I could see, that the usb really contained the files.

The my wife called, just after trying the twentieth time. During the conversation, the files suddenly appeared visible on the screen!!
So the key was patience.
Wait wait wait for it.

I entered my 64 patterns into my new XF and saved myself hours of work.

Hopefully you return here and read this, and for those following along. The Motif XF FILE System is “context sensitive”... you will only see files that can be used by the Motif XF. For example, you could have tons of pdf documents on the usb stick, you will never see them through the XF File window.

Since the XF cannot do anything with a pdf, it is invisible. Also so is any file not usable by the current MODE you are in.
If you are looking for Songs you should enter FILE mode from the Song mode. If you are looking for Patterns they only appear when you’re in a MODE that can use the file type (Pattern Mode). It makes sense when stated... but until you know this you may not find the files you know are on a usb stick.

If you enter FILE from VOICE mode you will not see any Song .X3S or Pattern .X3P files... they cannot be used in Voice mode. You will see .X3A and .X3V Files because they can be opened and individual Voices could be loaded from within them while you are in VOICE Mode. You can’t play a Pattern or a Song while in Voice Mode so you will not see those files.

If you are looking to load a specific type of Motif XF File Type, you should be in the context (mode) where that file can be used.

If you enter FILE from PATTERN mode, you will only see options that could be used in Pattern mode... that’s what we mean by context sensitivity. In your computer you view every type of file on the USB stick, in the XF you see only Folders and Files that can used by the XF in its current state.

Once you know this, the mystery of what’s listed in the XF FILE screen at any time disappears.
