I was wondering, when I select a performance and record it, it uses 4 tracts, I get that. What I don't get is, when I go to record additional tracts over top, ie, tracts 5,6,7,8 I cannot hear playback on initial tracts 1,2,3,4 when I am recording the new tracts... It makes it hard to record new stuff when you cannot hear the original stuff....I know that was a mouthful but it is the only way I can explain. I am new to this whole synth thing, loving it but frustrated....ty

The concept of Direct Performance Record was to “jump start” the recording process by allowing you to control up to four Parts, simultaneously (as in a rhythm section + lead), and record each of them to separate tracks of the Sequencer.

Sequencing is traditionally a one track at a time kind of exercise, the Direct Performance Record was designed so you could Record your first pass along with your Drums, Bass, and backing... think having a rhythm section.

You would not, typically, Record a second rhythm section to the same composition. So your idea of recording a second set to 5, 6, 7 and 8 simultaneously is not supported. When in Song or Pattern Mode - recording is typically one track at a time.

Once you Record from Performance to the Song or Pattern structure, your next recording should be to Track 5... and recording should be one track at a time from this point on. Just as you would have only one rhythm section in any multi track recording, your individual tracks would occupy 5-16 which you add one at a time.
