So I have gotten pretty familiar now with using pattern mode and want to start implementing midi in my creative process. I am now using cubase AI8 and believe i have all the proper drivers/software installed as i can interact with cubase using my motif keys. I have a usb cable and also a midi to usb with both in and out. i would like to use my software to click in say a drum beat and then have it play on the track of choice on my motif so i can record it into my pattern (use midi data as my fingers). I saw a video of a guy moving actual midi files through the file funtion on the motif but I would find it much more convenient to have it play in real time and just hit record. From what i read about cubase there should be a selection for external instrument midi output in the vst connections but i only see the midi selection for the input. What say you synth wizard?
You only need a USB cable (not a MIDI to USB cable). The single USB cable will allow you to communicate MIDI to and from the Motif XF. You will need the appropriate Yamaha USB-MIDI driver for your computer type...
For step-by-step setup instructions you should provide what type of computer (Windows or Mac). Let us know.
