Among the little known facts about arpeggios and the Motif XF Sequencer are these gems:

_ While the default is that Arpeggios are set to LOOP, did you know... you can have them NOT Loop, play through once then stop?
_ Among the 7,881 Arpeggio Types are arp phrases that act as musical "rests". You will find these 'silent' arpeggios, which have no events, and come in various time signatures starting at number #7874. When assigned to a SubFunction [SF] button they allow the clock to continue to run but hold the place (like a rest).
_ The Motif XF sequencer has a very programmable Track specifically designed for MUTES - this is found in SONG Mode (SCENE TRACK) and in PATTERN CHAIN Mode. As many MUTE Events as you require can be recorded and documented to the sequencer.

Hope that helps.
