Hi,
I have problems with the MotifXF Editor. I really hope that someone can help me solving this:
While trying to synchronize my Motif with the MotifXF-Editor the process suddenly stops and after a view seconds it says "time out error".
What am I doing wrong?
The voices are partly synchronized but not all of them...
Thank you...
You need a computer, Windows or Macintosh
Please provide us with which one you are using, and the current operating system.
You'll need a multiple port MIDI connection.
This means you need to be connected to that computer by a USB or FireWire cable
USB will allow you to use the MIDI features of the "Yamaha Motif XF Editor Standalone/VST"
FireWire will allow you to use both MIDI and Audio features of the Editor
You'll need to download and install the proper Driver for your selected connection type and computer operating system.
http://download.yamaha.com
The Editor can be launched as a Stand alone application, or run as a VSTi (virtual instrument) inside a compatible DAW.
Let us know what you have, what you've installed (version numbers are important here). A "time out error" is caused by the Editor looking for and NOT finding a necessary component or connection.
Thank you for answering!
I am using a Lenovo Laptop (WIN7Prox64) and the Stand alone version of the Editor.
I think the problem could be the version of the Driver or the Driver itself, because the older version (2013) wouldnยดt install at all.
On the other hand the newest version, which is I think the USB-MIDI Driver V3.1.4 for Win 64-bit (Win7 SP1 / Win8 / Win8.1 / Win10), could be installed
but somehow the computer couldnยดt find it first the first few times.
In the end it seemed to work but then the problem appeared during the process of syncronizing.
Thank you!
The Driver is solid. If installed you should be able to select in the program.
Let's verify.
In your Motif XF
Press [UTILITY]
Press [F5] CONTROL
Press [SF2] MIDI
Set MIDI IN/OUT = USB
Press [STORE] to write this preference to your system settings
Launch the Yamaha Motif XF Editor Standalone
Go to FILE > SETUP
Make sure you select the Driver in the appropriate places for Port 1 In/Out and Port 4 In/Out
Any exclamation points indicates a problem.
Click OK.
Let us know.
I followed all the steps. But when i try to bring the Motif online and do the AutoSync,
the process starts and then suddenly stops with this "time out error" message.
The Motif display freezes and it doesnยดt respond anymore. No button has an effect.
On your Windows computer navigate to your CONTROL PANEL and find the Yamaha USB-MIDI Driver icon, double click it and tell us what you see.
when I double click it there pops up a dialogue field that tells that the installing process is starting.
After three seconds it suddenly stops and there is a field that asks me if I really want to remove the application and all a features that are belonging to it.
When I press "Yes" the uninstalling starts. When I press "No" nothing happens...
Does it not show you the version number and the Control Panel.
Make sure you have a working USB connection to your keyboard.
No information is too small or insignificant to report, here.
Please verify the name and version of the driver.
Let us know. Thanks.
Screenshot should look like this... the number '1' in the center panel will be flashing indicating you have an established working connection via USB Port 1. If you have another device connected to the Motif XF's MIDI Port it will cause Port 3 to flash.
Ok , thank you. It worked... somehow...first.
And when I tried to transfer the Datas/Voices from the Motif to the PC it crashed again...
You see three screenshots below.
In order to transfer data from the Motif XF to the PC, please use the BULK > DATA SYNC option on the menu bar.
You are making progress. And when you say things like "nothing happens" or "it crashes" you'll have yo be much more descriptive than that. Does it give an error message? If so what is it? The lack of any message sends you to your computer maker, an error message means perhaps we can still help you.
Hi! I am the proud owner of a Motif 8 (bought one for a really good price) and I just wanted to try this whole editor thing myself.
I seem to have that same problem. So far what you wrote above doesn't help me! In the editor I am able to click on the keys and the motif plays sound. So I guess we're good on the USB/MIDI setting, I just can't seem to connect to the device and get the actual voices from there.
I have windows 10 , 64 bit
While clicking on the keys in the computer screen means some of MIDI is working, don't think you will be doing that much, if at all, in actual practice.
You say you have a Motif 8, or do you have a Motif XF8 (which is what the above discussion is about)?
I have a motif 8, but there wasn't really a category for that ๐ I did go to http://www.motifator.com/index.php/support/motif_downloads/P0/ and download an editor there for the motif 8, but it installed, but doesn't even open! The editor for the xf does open, but it just doesn't connect to the synth itself.
I am not new to computers, but I have never used an editor like this. My motif did not come with original disks, so I had no idea what to get.
I got the MIDI driver and I got the stand alone editor
