Is it possible to use a foot switch for bank changes on the motif rackXS while in voice mode? I am using a Yamaha FC5 pedal, Yamaha MFC1 with motif rack XS. I won't need to get to every bank, just move, for example, to bank "x". Or possibly? move one bank up or down? (I can store the voices in such a manner that the last voice change of each piece is in bank "x").
I have been able to use this setup with CC# 127 to change to poly mode, but when I try control change numbers I have read about online and in the XS manual, the bank does not change. Which makes me think I need to change something in the XS rack. Is there an article/discussion or anyone who can advise me?
If my current devices are not good for this, can anyone recommend an equally low tech way of getting a bank change with a foot switch/controller? By that I mean no computer or DAW during performances and hopefully no bells and whistles.
Thank you.
You'll need to contact Customer Support on the MFC1 (that's about 30 years old) and may predate Bank Select in MIDI protocol. Any way they should be able to help you there.
Hey 'b',
Your question is awesome. If you do end-up contacting Customer Support, please report back and let us know what the verdict is.
thanks,
The MFC10 (still a current product) can definitely send the Bank Select and Program Chane messages to select sounds on the Rack XS

MFC1 does not support bank changes. Thanks for your advice.
