For ergonomic reasons, sometimes I use Cubase with my XF7 from in front of my computer (which is across the room from my XF7), and other times I sit at my XF7 and control Cubase on my computer via a Surface 3 tablet mounted above the XF7, using software called TeamViewer. For various reasons, it's better for me to use one Windows 10 account when I'm in front of my computer, and a different one when I'm using my Surface 3.
This all works OK, but I've run into a frustrating problem.
When I'm using Cubase and I want to load or store a VST preset with the XF VST Editor Plugin, I can hit that little diamond-shaped icon just to the right of the place where the VST Editor shows the name of the current preset. This gets me to a Cubase dialogue that gives me access to the presets in a particular location on my hard disk. That location is:
C:UsersDocumentsVST3 PresetsYamaha CorporationMOTIF XF VST
( is the name of whichever Windows 10 account I’m currently using)
As a result, VST presets that I created in one account are not available when using the other account. I tried a workaround of putting a shortcut to each account’s “VST3 Presets” folder into the other account’s folder. But the Cubase dialogue ignores those.
I've discovered that I can set up the MediaBay so that it looks in both accounts’ folders, but this doesn’t seem to be helpful when trying to load a preset into the XF VST Editor.
Is there some way I can get things to work the way I want, so that I can load a VST preset from either account into the XF VST Editor?
This is a question best asked through your MySteinberg Account - as they can tell you how to share your VST Plugins folder.
