Audio track in Cubase AI does not output to my MOXF8 through the USB driver

I am using my MOXF8 in conjunction with Cubase AI. I have the MOXF8 connected to my laptop through an USB cable. I have everything installed: the USB driver, the VSTi package.

For MIDI tracks, I am using the MOXF8 as a VSTI rack instrument and everything goes well.

I am now trying to add an audio track that I fill with an audio sample. But when I play the sequence, rather than going through the MOXF8, the audio track sounds on the laptop speakers (while the MIDI tracks continue to sound through the MOXF8). Although that for the laptop the default sound channel is the MOXF8 - if I play an MP3 on the laptop, it sounds on the MOXF8, and not on the local speakers.

Note that the click also sounds on the local speakers, but it is not a big deal.

Any idea of the setting I am missing?

Thanks,

Pierre

It is a big deal. You are using the audio of your laptop. If you have “everything installed” then this will be an easy fix. We’ll go with this first, if it doesn’t fix it... we’ll move to step 2 (which will require details)

In Cubase AI (?)
Go to DEVICES > DEVICE SETUP... > VST AUDIO SYSTEM > here you must select the MOXF Driver as your ASIO DRIVER.

If you are on a Windows PC it might say “Yamaha Steinberg USB Audio”
If you are on a Mac it might say “Yamaha MOXF6/MOXF8”

This will switch the driver so that your computer will use the MOXF as your audio streaming device for Input and Output (ASIO)... instead of the built-in audio system of your laptop. All audio coming from the computer (including the Cubase click) will now come through the speakers connected to your MOXF.

Use the DAW LEVEL Fader right next to the MOXF’s Master Volume to Control Audio Level coming from your computer.

Let us know.

Bingo! Everything works well now. The click as well. I had not seen that in the doc.
Thanks,
Pierre
