I use Cubase LE-6 (PC with Windows 11 ) and can't use the "VST Editor" for Cubase inside the DAW.

Error message says "Ports in the host app have not been properly set".
When I add an Instrument ("moxf8 vst") my Moxf8 produced a noise (on the "daw level" chanel)

I can record MIDI data, but no sound when reading

You mention recording MIDI data, which is good. But are you sure the MIDI output from Cubase is correctly sending to the Moxf8? In Cubase's MIDI Track settings, check that the MIDI output is set to the Moxf8's MIDI port. It might be set to something else by default.

It sounds like a port routing issue — double-check that your MIDI input and output ports in Cubase are properly set to the MOXF8 and that the audio return is routed from the VST editor to an active audio channel. Sometimes reinstalling the Yamaha/Steinberg USB driver helps too.
