Can I change volume automation in audio tracks in cubase 8 real time with moxf (or with my yamaha volume pedal)?
Changing volume sliders in the mixer using the mouse is not smooth at all.
Thank you,
Dionysis.
Yes, the mouse is only one way to change volume. You can use a Foot Controller (FC7), a Knob, or you can even draw the automation, or have Cubase draw the automation. or have the MOXF calculate and send the automation.
The options available to you are many. You don't give us many details, other than "Cubase 8" is that Cubase Pro 8, Cubase AI8, Cubase Elements 8???? It does make a difference many times in the answer and options available.
Are you setup to use the MOXF as a control surface?
Are you setup via USB connection or are you using an external MIDI interface?
Hello Bad Mister – honor talking with you!
I have Cubase 8 Artist.
I’m using “editor vst” communication between moxf and cubase (through usb).
Now for my (many) questions:
- I have the FC7. How can I use this?
- What do you mean, have Cubase draw the automation? By Write enable and changing volume by mouse?
- How can the moxf calculate and send the automation?
- Can I use moxf knobs to change audio volume automation in real time?
- Can I use arrow keys to change automation instead of mouse?
- I have the FC7. How can I use this?
If you activate the RW (ReadWrite) buttons on the MOXF VST Folder's Automation Lane, any controller you move will be documented to the automation lane. The WRITE button takes the place of "Record" for the automation. In fact, automation can be overdubbed with the need to hit record. The FC7 defaults to sending cc011 Expression. You can change this to cc007 if you prefer. UTILITY > CTL ASN (Controller Assign)
- What do you mean, have Cubase draw the automation? By Write enable and changing volume by mouse?
No, the "pencil" tool allows you to write automation - you draw it in. The video I thought explained that.
- How can the moxf calculate and send the automation?
The MOXF sequencer can create continuous control data. It has many sophisticated JOBS a that allow you create controller messages for volume, panning, effect send changes, anything you can think of.
- Can I use moxf knobs to change audio volume automation in real time?
Many of knobs on the front panel of the MOXF send Control Change messages that can be recorded to the Automation lane. Simply click on the W - a long as it is selected, movements of your knobs can be recorded to the automation lane.
If you press both Knob Select buttons simultaneously (all six LEDs light) it turns the top row of knobs to Volume controls for Parts 1-4, 5-8, 9-12, or 13-16 and the bottom row into Pan for Parts 1-4, 5-8, 9-12, or 13-16, depending on the current selected Part. These can be used to automate volume and pan commands.
- Can I use arrow keys to change automation instead of mouse?
Use your MOXF it has the controls you need!
Alternatively, the MOXF VST Editor's screen can be used to send automation. You can customize the mouse movements necessary to change value.
