I am having issue with the arpeggio when I place a voice in a performance. I am trying to create a performance using P8-082 Mega Steel with arpegio 1892...sort of has that Hotel California type sound. Sounds fine in voice mode but when I place it in a performance, the arpeggio no longer works properly. I have tried looking through all the parameters and matching them up to insure they are the same, no luck.
Also tried taking a performance similar to one I want to build and modifying one of the voices to P8-082 setting Arp 1 for 1892, still does not work.
Tried playing with attack, cutoff, velocity sensitivity,e tc. Can't find anything to make it work. Help appreciated. Thanks
If you want to bring a VOICE into a PART — that Part could be in a PATTERN or SONG MIXING setup, or in a PERFORMANCE — and you would like it as it is setup in VOICE mode, remember to turn the PARAMETER WITH VOICE parameter ON first.
From [SONG] or [PATTERN] mode
Press [MIXING] ...
From [PERFORM] mode...
Press [EDIT]
Press Track Select button [1]
This will allow you to see the parameters for the Voice in PART 01
Press [F1] VOICE
Press [SF1] VOICE
Find the parameter called “P. WithVce”
Highlight this parameter and turn it ON
Now move up and select your Voice, by BANK and NUMBER… by doing so the MOXF will automatically copy in the arps and all the parameters listed below:
When “Parameter with Voice” is set to ON prior to making your Voice selection you can ensure all “associated” data is also copied....
Determines whether or not the following parameter settings of the selected Voice are copied from the Voice to the current Part when you change a Voice for the current Part individually.
• Arpeggio settings
• Filter Cutoff Frequency
• Filter Resonance
• Amplitude EG
• Filter EG
• Pitch Bend Range (Upper/Lower)
• Note Shift
Note: Regardless of the Parameter with Voice setting, the following settings are always copied when a Normal Voice is selected: Mono/Poly, Porta Sw (Portamento Part Switch), Porta Time (Portamento Time) and Porta Mode (Portamento Mode).
The Arp will run at the Tempo as set in the Performance, Song or Pattern
Thank you...hope I can get it to work. So many parameters hidden behind tabs. I love the instrument but I wish I could understand it. Probably use only 10% of its capabilities.
Still having issues. Tried following your directions.
First, I am assuming when you say Press Track Select button [1] you mean PART. I cannot find anything that says Track, am I missing something here.
I am in an existing performance rather than starting from voice mode and layering to create a new performance....tried both ways.
I select any of the parts, press [F1] voice then SF1 Voice and it show that the parameter P. with Vce is on for all the parts. The part I want is already selected, but the arpeggio is not working properly. Since it is already there do I have to do something to copy it in again. I tried changing to another voice, saving, then going back to that voice. Still no good.
Second issue with Arpeggios. I only want the arpeggios triggered by the left hand. Lots of them that I downloaded work that way but when I seem to create this one, it is triggered by entire range of keyboard. Where do I select what section of the keyboard triggers the parts that are playing with the arpeggios.
In this performance I have
Voice 1 drums
Voice 2 Bass
Voice 3 Rhythm Guitar
Voice 4 Lead guitar.
Thanks again for your assistance. Would attaching any of the performance files help in figuring out the problem?

It is not enough to just have the “Parameter with Voice” On, the important thing is that the selection you make AFTER it is On will bring along the associated parameters...
This is happening whether or not you recognize that it is — perhaps you are expecting something else to happen. Look, you can be specific here. Drums in Part 1, OK. which Drum Kit? We’ll assume it is assigned Arpeggios.
Bass in Part 2 - is it assigned Arpeggios?
Rhythm Gtr in Part 3 - is it assigned Arpeggios?
Lead Gtr in Part 4 - Part Note Limit starts on what Note? We’ll assume you playing this with your right hand.
Let us know... theory is one thing, let’s get specific.

You must set the Arp Note Limit parameters for the Part. These are found by pressing [ARP EDIT]
Arp Note Limits are a completely separate parameter from the Part Note Limits.
Arp Note Limits determine which Notes will be used to input information into the Arpeggiator, while Part Note Limits determine which Notes will make sound.
This allows you to, for example, control the chord intelligence of Guitar Part with your left hand, even though the guitar is sounding notes that would normal sound in response to your right hand.
Parts 1 , 2 , 3 all assigned arpeggios.
I did sort of get it to work by building a performance starting in Voice mode and layering the songs in. Then assigning it to the same performance.
When I was in Performance mode and brought in the voice even though the parameter with voice was on, the steel guitar one did not work right. It had an arpeggio of sorts, but it was not the one in the voice , sort of just a messed up Arpeggio.
Will work on it again. Thanks for patience.
No help, but some commiseration:
There is a setting somewhere I haven't found that creates blocking overrides.
There's one part I've found this, when I import it, I can no longer assign anything to modulations. It's a part from the CS80 set. Searched everywhere for the blocking 'switch', but unable to find it.
I took "Dirty Mini" (user Perf) and copied over a steel guitar Voice I had made that sounded fine as a Voice (with ARP 1892) into the Perf. I changed ARP1 under the Perf for the copied Part to 1892. It didn't sound right until I set "Velocity Mode" under ARP Main to "Original".
I also set the note limits everywhere for the steel guitar Part to full keyboard (Part limit, ARP limit).
Although I created my own Voice - (by using job copy) - it's not necessary. You can pull the preset voice.
Are you sure you're going through all of the parameters? It didn't take long to take something really not built for this steel guitar and shoe-horn it in using the ARP you wanted playing correctly.
Current Yamaha Synthesizers: Montage Classic 7, Motif XF6, S90XS, MO6, EX5R

Well I go through the parameters....but do I understand what I am looking at and what it does.....frequently no. I will take a look at the Velocity Setting if I can find it. I guess I sort of gave up on this and have moved on to other things. I grew up in the days when a Farfisa combo organ was high tech and did not play for years. Retired recently and trying to get into it. I try to do a lot of Big Band and light jazz type stuff. Like some of the older rock and roll also. Trying to get a balance for doing solo performances or small band stuff.
Have played with a few bands pre covid but things just did not mesh......looking forward to be able to play out again, trying to get ready.
