I'm trying to record a bunch of songs for long term use. The problem is I'm running out of both storage space, and song slots, it seems. Is there a limitation of 64 songs? Cause I can't seem to go above that.

I'd like to be able to free storage space up somehow, or buy something to add storage space, or save songs on a USB, but I don't want to save them as audio on the USB, it needs to be MIDI.

Please help. Thanks!

Hi Jeremy,
The MOXF has 64 Song locations and 64 Pattern locations. This does not mean the same thing to all users. What a "song" is can differ for different people. A Song location can store a MIXING - 16 Voices, placed one per each of the 16 Parts. Additionally, MIDI Sequence data can also be stored in a Song location... but recognize not everyone uses Song Mixing setups for music sequences- some just store the multi-timbral setups in the Song locations.

We very often get the question, how can I fill all 64 Song locations with musical Song data... the answer is most likely you will run out of memory long before you fill it with 64 composition. In general, the Sequencer is designed to hold about one Set's worth of Songs... usually this is more than 10 but less than 20. We can't say precisely because there is no real good answer to the question: How long is a song?
How long is a piece of string?

What String? What Song?

So expect your mileage to vary. But plan on loading up about 40 to 50 minutes of music at a time (about a set's worth). It is then assumed you can reload the Sequencer between Sets.

Songs can be backed to a USB stick and reloaded as you desire. Say you have 10 Songs in the Sequencer, (Set 1), you can SAVE this as an ALL data file Type .X6A or as an ALL SONG file Type .X6S.

The ALL FILE saves everything
The ALL SONG FILE saves all of the songs

You do not save individual Songs... the files work so that the entire Song Sequencer is Saved to the files.
But you can LOAD an individual Song from within the file.

From either file type you can load all the Songs together or you can set the File Type to LOAD "Song" which allows you to load an individual Song from within any of these file Types. This allows you to mix and match different Songs into 'Sets' (groupings).

Has anyone ever gotten 64 Songs in the Sequencer - absolutely, if your 64 songs are like "Mary had a little Lamb" on a solo piano, sure!
But in actual use, group your Songs into 40 minute sets, and anticipate learning to LOAD SONGS in an efficient manner.

When loading individual Songs the process takes about 2-3 seconds to load a song... so yes, you can do it quickly and easily, even while on stage.
