Is it possible to split the keyboard of my MOXF 8 once, so I can send midi out from each part of the split from different midi channels? if not, how would I do it? Reason being that I found myself out of polyphony in my DAW on a grand piano vst (128 note poly). I decided to load another midi/audio piano and split them so one would play A-1 to B2, the other C3 to C7. I set the low piano to Channel 1, the upper to channel 2 in the DAW. But I haven't figured out how to get 2 channels of midi out of my controller at specified not ranges. I've been reading the reference manual for a while. I'm beginning to think I may be wanting too much... Thanks, Shep

I found a product called NoteMapper that works really well for this. The one thing I haven't gotten to Channel 2 is the cc64 info. NoteMapper only passes notes. I need a kind of VST Midi Merge that would let me have NoteMapper and a 2nd input at the same time from a 2nd track that would have all not info filtered out, leaving only the cc64 info. What a tangled web this stuff can be. Any info to help is greatly appreciated!

Hi John, Welcome to Yamaha Synth!

The MOXF can accomplish exactly what you require. Here's how:
Press [MASTER] to enter the Master Keyboard mode.
You can setup a program to transmit Out to your DAW

Press [JOB]
Press [F1] INIT
We will initialize a Master location - do not worry about the factory programs, they are simply example "placeholders". You can overwrite these without fear of losing anything important.
With the "All" option marked, press [ENTER] to execute.

An "Initialized Master" is created.
On this main screen, press [F2] MEMORY
Here you can link this Master with an internal MOXF program. (You don't mention if you want to use an internal sound so this will not matter, just want to point out that if you wanted to layer the external piano with an internal MOXF sound, you could by associating this Master program with a VOICE, a PERFORMANCE or a SONG/PATTERN Mixing setup!)

Press [F3] SWITCH
Set the ZONE SWITCH = ON
And set the ZONE/KNOB = ON

Press [EDIT]
Here you can NAME the Master setup something appropriate by changing the default Name "Initialized Master"
Press the Track [1] button to view the four possible ZONES. You will be using just the first two slots.
[F1] TRANS (transmit) will be selected.

Set ZONE 1 as follows:
Transmit Channel = 1
Internal Switch = Off
External Switch = On

Press [2]
Set ZONE 2 as follows:
Transmit Channel = 2
Internal Switch = Off
External Switch = On

Move to [F2] NOTE
Here you can set your NOTE LIMITS for each ZONE, Low and High
Set ZONE 1 C-2 through B2
Set ZONE 2 C3 through G8

At [F3] TX SW (Transmit Switches) you can see a list (use down cursor) of things you can send or filter from sending. Bank Select/Program Change, and a list of all your controllers - so you can set which controllers are sent to each Zone.

At [F4] PRESET - you can send specific settings
At [F5] KNOB you can set what the Knobs send to a ZONE.

You can then [STORE] this to your MOXF, there are 128 such Master programs you can setup.

I really appreciate this tip, Bad Mister. I have yet in the years I've used my MOXF to 'need' Master Mode for what I do. I love this board to this this day. Thanks very much and a great 2017 to you!

I am triggering a sampler on channel 10 and haven't gotten this to work except for putting the MOXF6 KBD Transact in utility to 10. Set this up exactly like the instructions above- am I missing something?

Hi Gary,

If you have setup exactly like the instructions above it should be working, so since channel 10 was nowhere's mentioned above, why not tell us what you have setup and then we can tell you what is missing. There is nothing missing from the instructions above.

You should start your own thread, as well, as it is obviously a different issue. We'd be happy to help you get up and running.
