Is it possible to store songs recorded on the MOXF8 externally and then played back as midi files on a sequencer? I've tried storing to a USB flash drive but haven't had any luck. I can have the MOXF play them individually and record them in the sequencer software (Logic), but that seems to be cumbersome.

I don’t think I understand the question. You can record songs on the MOXF8’s built-in Sequencer or you can record your songs to an external DAW (like Logic). If you record it on Logic, you can export it as a. Mid (Standard MIDI File) which can be Loaded and played by the MOXF8’s Sequencer.

Okay. What I would like is to take the recorded songs from the MOXF and export them as MIDI files, Or, at the very least, store the songs externally in the proprietary format since the sequencer block has limited space. I cannot find any reference in the manuals to save to USB flash storage except for an option called "all".

Yes, you can export your MOXF Songs as .MID Files.
From SONG mode
Press [FILE]
Press [F2] SAVE
Set the TYPE = SMF (Standard MIDI File)

This will save the data that is actually recorded to the tracks... It does not store you MIXING setups.

If you want to Store Songs externally in a MOXF proprietary format - save your data as you have been... either in an ALL data (.X6A) or ALL SONG (.X6S) format.

You can always LOAD a Single SONG from within any of these File Types.
Say your MOXF Sequencer fills up after about 8 or 10 Song... If you have played a SONG already... you can LOAD a new SONG over one of those locations. The new SONG will remove the one you are overwriting before it loads the new SONG.

So you have unlimited SONGs. The beautiful thing is a SONG loads in about 2 seconds. (It actually takes longer to press the buttons than it does to load an individual SONG).

Instead of using the Load TYPE = "ALL" or "ALL SONG", set the LOAD TYPE = Song.
This will let you "open" the .X6A or .X6S file and see a list of titles within the FILE. (Oh, very important to give your SONGS Names as this will help you locate them).
Select the SONG you wish to Load (right side of the screen) - and direct it to a SONG you have already performed (on the left side of the screen) and OVERWRITE it.

They load so fast that you can do it between SONGS... you want to get to the point where between your internal memory and your Flash Board, that all your sounds are always in your MOXF. This way you do not have to wait for any Samples to load (if you need help with that, just let us know). But you should be able to make this work for you. let us know

Hope that helps.

Thanks! That's the answer I was looking for but couldn't find in the manuals (though it may be there somewhere).

I really appreciate it.
