Hi to everyone, my name is Dario, I'm newbie here
some days ago I've finally got my MOXF6, so I'm sure that I will have several questions to ask about this magical machine...
Anyway, my first question is this : I want to have a sustain pedal patched to every sound of the MOXF by default,
so I keep a Boss FS-5U that is a momentary "unlatch"-type footswitch, connected on the rear panel jacks like the FOOT SWITCH or the FOOT CONTROLLER jack, I've tried both ones but it doesn't work unfortunately. The FS-5U has a polarity switch too, but even if I change it I'm not able to achieve any result.
In UTILITY--->CTL ASN---->FT SW if I set it to Midi Command 64 Sustain it works fine, but every time that I switch off the MOXF it is lost.
Thus, am I forced to purchase the Yamaha FC3?
Let me know
Thanks
We don't want to "force" you, but the Yamaha FC3 was designed with your Yamaha keyboard in mind. And provides you with Half Dampering control over playing piano Voices in your MOXF. Half Dampering is a real subtle piano gesture where you control the duration of sustain (how much dampering) is applied. You can get longer sustain the farther down you engage the FC3 pedal. This FC3 pedal works when the Sustain mode is set to "FC3 Half ON" (that is, when an FC3 pedal is plugged in, and the Voice is set to receive Half Dampering Time).
That said, the Roland pedal is probably the right polarity but you have the Sustain parameter set to "FC3" and clearly you do not have an FC3 so you don't get Half Dampering. And your Roland pedal is obviously not similar.
Try setting the Sustain Pedal parameter to "FC4/5" this will allow the typical momentary pedal (not capable of the Half Dampering effect) to work in the MOXF.
Press [UTILITY]
Press [F4] CTL ASN (Controller Assign)
Press [F2] FT SW (Foot Switch)
Set the SUSTAIN PEDAL = FC4/5
Press [STORE] to write this to your instrument's System settings.
When you are ready to get the most out of your MOXF, get the Yamaha FC3, and set the parameter to "FC3 Half ON"
No pressure...
