Sorry, no. There is no file compatibility with the SY77 (circa 1989) and your MOXF (2013).

That said, we do have some exciting news of something you can do today with your 21st Century MOXF.

You can download the free FM Essential App and when connected to your MOXF via USB you can add an FM synth engine to your setup.

The MOXF is an iOS compatible device meaning the audio and MIDI connection is established when you connect your MOXF to an iPad or iPhone running the app. The audio of the "FM Essential" will come through the MOXF on the DAW LEVEL slider making mixing levels a breeze.

The app will allow to layer the AWM2 engine of the MOXF with FM sounds coming the App!
It comes with a dozen or so sounds but you can unlock the full 271 FM sounds... It's part of a promotion...

In exchange for stopping by you local music store, and testing out the new iOS compatible MX49/61 BK/BU - you can unlock the rest of the FM sounds. You just connect the App to the MX using a USB cable with appropriate adapter and it unlocks the magic (and you can use the full app from then on).

Check it out, it gets you a free FM SYNTH! To work with your MOXF or MX (or Montage)!!! And while the FM Essential is not a full fledged DX7 engine, it is fun, educational, and easy as pie. Cool drum grooves as well.

Your comments in regard to the free FM Essential App really aren't as exciting as you make out with all the bells and whistles.
Unless the app has been updated to work on the (2013) MOXF you're only able to access 10 voices.
I also can't see music store staff, even if they have a new MX49/61 in stock and able to demo, let all and sundry connect their IOS device, adapter and cable to the keyboard so they can unlock the other voices and use the store/save function.

What would be exciting is if Yamaha made the app available for all current keyboards ie MOXF/Motif, with the full 271 sounds and unlocked 🙂

I really can't speak for the entire world, but here in the USA if you walk in to an authorized Yamaha synth dealer, with the "FM Essential" app on your phone or pad (10 sounds active) and ask to get a demonstration on the new MX BK/BU the store staff will be more than happy to help you unlock your FM Essential app... You'll walk out with the complete 271 unlocked sounds!

That's the promotion... Get you off your couch, and down to your authorized Yamaha synth dealer!!! In exchange they'll unlock your App!

The FM Essential is available for all current Yamaha synth keyboards.

The MOXF6/MOXF8, the MX49/MX61 BK/BU and the Montage 6/7/8 are current compatible synths.

Err, where've been? Motifs are discontinued and are not current product. 🙂
