If by “Patern Editor” you are referring to Pattern Chain and using the EDIT feature that converts the Pattern Chain data to SONG, be sure you do NOT check the box that places Program Change events into the Track. It is totally unnecessary if you want to playback from the MOXF’s own Sequencer.

Reason: the feature that inserts Program Changes is there in case necessary... it, in my opinion, should not be used unless absolutely necessary and then only if you are going to move the FILE that is created to another non-MOXF Sequencer. The events should be moved earlier in time (or placed in their own Setup Bar... so they do not conflict with note-on events...
basis rule: do not send a Program Change simultaneously with a note-on event... it takes about 100-200ms to execute a Program Change... which is not a lot of time, except in music.

When you convert a Pattern Chain to a linear SONG, the MOXF automatically copies your MIXING from Pattern to Song, so inserting the Bank Select and Program Changes is totally unnecessary unless your ultimate goal is Export the sequence to another Sequencer which would not copy the MIXING. you will at least have a record (in the file) of the sounds you selected.

For example, say your ultimate goal was to play it from a computer-based system... you could make a .mid that would contain all the info you needed to shuttle the data to an entire computer based system. The Bank Select and Program Changes in the Data could then be used to communicate with another MOXF (which didn’t have your MIXING). And still in that situation you should use the same protocol as recommended in General MIDI where your Bank Select, Program Change and other programming edits are housed in a SETUP MEASURE... you’ll notice most GM files feature 1 Measure in front of all other data... a GM Reset Takes between 250-350ms to execute...

If you are simply to play the Song from the MOXF inserting Bank and Program is totally unnecessary.

Why this is not in the Manual, is anybody’s guess, mine is it didn’t translate well or was not understood. But since there is no reason for inserting Bank and Program messages for the initial MIXING, make sure you uncheck that option when converting your Pattern Chain to Song.

If this is not helpful, then please explain what you mean by “Patern Editor” and how you are using it.. You should never lose the first beat. Let us know.

Many thanks! I manually deleted all the program changes from the song and everything started to sound exactly.
