I came back from five months away and the Moog expression pedal no longer has any effect. I tested the pedal and the cable with an ohmmeter. The resistance is zero at either extreme and about 20K in the middle of the travel of the pedal, which is a bit odd but at least it should have some effect. I cycled the power on the keyboard after plugging in the expression pedal to the Foot Controller jack. I checked that FC1 is set to EXpression in the Utilities section. What next?

Get the recommended Yamaha FC7 pedal, it is designed to work with your MOXF

I think what he means is that the pedal he has *was* working, and now fails to do so.

Personally, I suspect the pedal has given up the ghost. If it's going zero-20K-zero, it's quite possible the MOXF is seeing it as "basically zero" the entire way - last time I attacked an expression pedal and checked the resistance, it was like 5 ohms at one end, and like 800k ohms at the other.

There's an outside chance that dirt/dust has gotten into the potentiometer or similar, and/or replacing the pot will fix it. However, I'm going to guess and say that if you're posting this question, you don't have the electronics workbench skills to go this repair alone.

So I'm going to go with Bad Mister and suggest you get an FC7 - the prices reported by Google are less than you'll probably spend to get the Moog pedal fixed (unless you have remaining warranty on it).

The problem was I was using a mono cable instead of the required stereo one.
