Hello-- I just purchased, downloaded and installed the Best Of Motif Bank onto my MX61. I was under the impression that I was getting additional voices that could be accessed through using [select] , [shift] and the Voice Category buttons. Instead, what seems to have happened is that these new voices replaced the 128 Performances accessed through [select] and the [data] dial.

I think i followed the proper install procedure... but am left with two questions: 1) was BOMB supposed to replace the 128 Performances?
2.) Is there a way to get those performances back? Are they still on my machine somewhere? Can I download them?

Thanks

Yes, the B.O.M.B. was supposed to replace the 128 Performances.
And yes, you can restore the Factory Set at any time.

To restore the Factory Set:
Press [UTILITY]
Press [JOB]
Use the [UP]/[DOWN] button to select "02: Factory Set"
Press [ENTER]
Leave the "PowerOn Auto = Off"
Press [ENTER]
Press [YES]

All Performances are in User Programmable RAM (Random Access Memory) this means you can customize any or all of the locations. The Factory Set is kept in storage so that you can recall them by using the routine as outlined above. If you customize any of the Performances, you can STORE them to one of the 128 Performance locations, then you can back them up for long term storage by making an ALL data file (.X5A) to a USB stick.

That's how the MX_BOMB.X5A file was made ...by customizing all 128 User Performance locations. Storing a new Performance in each location; then creating an ALL data File.

Recommended
Load the B.O.M.B. Performances, make a mental note (or write down) the ones you like...
After you restore the Factory Set, you can load the individual Performances you like from the MX_BOMB.X5A file.
You can load individual data from within an ALL data
Press [FILE]
Select LOAD
Set type of data = Performance (instead of "All")
Press [ENTER] to view a list of the 128 Individual Performances contained in the file. You can direct them to any of the internal 128 locations. In this manner you can REPLACE (overwrite) any internal Performance you are not using.

You may opt to create a backup file of the Factory Set, this way you can restore individual Factory Performances from your backup file.

Excellent! A great suggestion. I'll do that. Yeah, get the best of both sets.

Cool, am just learning the MX. Gonna try to dig in and figure a few things out. May have future questions for you... my next challenge (and I WILL read the manual first) -- is to alter the amount of "Leslie" on some of the organ sounds, I want to have some that have virtually zero rotary effect. Looking to find ways to get several decent B3 type sounds to choose from.

Thanks

I would like to get the bomb bank so I have backed up the performances to USB (and then computer).
The backup file is only 564KB - would this be correct?
thanks

Mike,
Were you successful in editing the amount of Leslie? I'd like to that as well when I get an MX61.
Thanks,
Ol' Will

The Rotary Speaker INSERTION EFFECT is fully programmable. True, on most of the tone wheel organ sounds, the MW flips the speed from SLOW to FAST, or FAST to SLOW. If you prefer you can set the "Slow" option to Speed = 0.00Hz which functions as Stop. You'll find the Rotary Speaker Effect is completely programmable, you can even control the Transition Time between the two Speeds separately for the high frequency horn, and low frequency rotor.

Good to know, thanks. So I take it that, unlike the the vibrato that is part of the sampled voice on the Sweet Flute, the rotary applied to organ voices is an added effect that can be changed... correct?

Btw, I was able to make just what I needed in the way of a small foot-operated MW. MX61 is on order!
