I recently purchased a MX49 synth with the intentions of using it for both Cubase and Sibelius, however, my MacBook cannot recognize the keyboard as a device. I've seen drivers out there to patch the problem, however, when you click on the link, the page has expired. The salesperson at the Guitar Center where I purchased the keyboard sold me a USB to Host port cable, which doesn't seem to work.
Any advice?
You need the proper driver. Computers usually include all the drivers for things like printers, but you are a musician. Computer makers do not include all Music drivers, it is your responsibility to download and install the proper driver for your particular keyboard.
A driver "teaches" the computer how to communicate with a musical instrument device.
Go to http://download.yamaha.com
Select your country
Type in your MODEL NAME: MX49
When the SEARCH RESULTS appear verify: MX49
Listed will be all the relevant items; you need the Yamaha Steinberg USB driver version 1.9.10 for Macintosh
The download includes the instructions and the driver.
So from there, just follow the set up in the owner's manual?
If you get stuck, post back here.
It worked. Thank you so much!
