Cubase keeps changing my chosen voice for my Midi track. If you look in the attached screenshot, my drums track is set to Acid Kit. But when I try to record my bass in the other track, it changes the drum kit to the bass. How do I set it to play the drums for the first track as I simultaneously play the bass in the second track? I have an MX61 and am running Cubase Project 10.5.

When working with a DAW like Cubase, you want to set Local Control = Off. This allows the selected track in Cubase to determine what you hear.

There are a few things to check:
__ the Voice List you are using may be recalling a Performance rather than a Single Voice per Part (where did you get that Voice list, doesn’t look familiar? Is it possible you are recalling a Performance and not recalling a Voice for each Part).
__ start with an initialized Performance so that you do not inherit settings (you don’t necessarily want Parts 1 and 2 linked, for example.

Hello Bad Mister!

Thank you for the tip about the Local Control. I realized I made the mistake of not setting the audio tracks as Midi Channels 10 and 5 respectively. The voice list I was using was the Voice list for Cubase AI from the MX series download list, but I already had a Yamaha MX Series saved before so it came up as an odd name.

I solved one problem and ended up with another though. Each track luckily plays their own respective instrument, but when I try to record the bass track, it layers the drum on top of the bass key. I already checked the layer and it's still "Warm Backing" from the Best Of Motif Bank.

Thank you for your time.

? I don’t understand. Sorry I don’t see any “Audio Tracks” at all. Audio Tracks do not have MIDI Channels.

Are you sure this is the Cubase AI Voice List from the download — why would it come up with an odd name?

I stick with my original thoughts — there is a problem with your Voice list.
You should start with an initialized Performance - that way you do not inherit a LAYER - The Layer should not be light.

Bad Mister!

I was a mess yesterday! I fixed it this morning with a clean install and I followed your guides. Honestly have no idea what happened yesterday.

Apologies for the poor wording on some things, this is my first time using anything like this and the MX is my first instrument. You were actually the one who sold me on it when you played that rendition of Babylon Sisters for the Sam Ash Music showcase of the MX!

Thanks again for all the help and time!
