Hi, Im new to the forum and I have been playing in a mx88 for 2 months. I play in church and I hope someone could help me to find a voice, effect, or a way to sound similar to the "pulsing" synth on the 2:20 minute mark of the video, its a tutorial and he uses a sound I havent been able to find on the mx. Is there any way to do it? Or i need to use mainstage for that kind of sounds? Thanks in advance, Please tell me if i am doing something wrong in the post and sorry for the english ( it's not my 1st language) π
You can create that βpulsingβ on any MX sound by applying an LFO (Low Frequency Oscillator) to vary the sound.
An LFO applied to the Oscillator would vary the pitch (not what you want)
An LFO applied to the Filter would vary the timbre (that is what you are hearing in the video)
An LFO applied to the Amplifier would vary the loudness (this also can accomplish what you are hearing...)
This is discussed on Page 6 of your MX88 Reference Manual (pdf).
You can have the LFO βpulseβ at the current tempo by selecting a Tempo driven LFO.
You will find the VOICE EDIT parameters discussed on pages 50, 51 and 52
Do you have access to an Editor?
I only have the vycro performance editor.
To access the Voice Edit parameters like the Tempo Sync LFO you'd need to have something like the John Melas "Total Librarian" Complete Tools for MX which includes a Performance Editor, a Voice Editor, and a Drum Kit Editor. The Voice Editor allows you to get at all the parameters (shown in pink in the Reference Manual).
The Voice Common LFO can be sync'd to tempo. The MX is very much based on its bigger sibling the MOTIF, but some of the deeper editing is only accessible via computer editors.
Thankss!! Looking forward to get it
