About to buy a MX61 but still can't find one last answer. I know you can use a midi controller to control the sounds of the MX, but is there a way to send individual sounds to the mid controller? For example have the organ sound on the actual MX but a piano sound from the MX on the Midi Controller. Would be great to use this live with a midi controller imitating a second MX.
I think what you are asking is can you play the MX keyboard triggering Part 1 setup as an organ at the same time having an external controller trigger an MX piano sound... the answer is yes.
This is accomplished by MIDI Channel assignment from your external controller.
Each MX Performance can have 16 different instruments, one on each of the 16 MIDI Channels.
You can actually use the MX keyboard to play both Parts 1 and 2 as a layer or split, while assigning your external controller to address another sound on MIDI Channel 3.
@Bad Mister, so to make sure I understand. I can use the 16 different midi channels to receive 16 different sounds to my controller all while being able to use part 1 and part 2 on the MX itself for layers and splits? This is a whole new world of exploration. Thank you for such a fast reply!
