I need Help,

I just bought a Yamaha MX61 because my Korg M3 is too heavy to carry around. I've always loved Yamaha Boards and my first Yamaha board was the dx11. Anyway, I need to split/layer more than 4 sounds and I don't see how to do that. In most boards you go to the performance, press edit and change the midi channels to one, then create velocity values, split points, etc.

However, I don't see this in the MX61 and I would really HATE to think Yamaha limited this board to only two voices playing simultaneously. Any help would be much appreciative...thanks. And by the way the manual doesn't mention it either.

Welcome to Yamaha Synth!

In making the MX49/MX61 Yamaha put the same 8 Element Voice architecture that the MOXF and Motif XF have... But the ability to edit on a deeper level is handled by the computer Editor... Instead of on-board the instrument

Make sure you down load and install the free "VycroMX PERFORMANCE Editor". It will let you build Performance (as you are familiar): by placing as many Parts on the same MIDI channel as you desire (up to 16 max).

Please see the following article on how to get started with the VycroMX Performance Editor:
MX Study Programming with the VycroMX Performance Editor

Really in depth Voice editing is available through the third party Editor suite by John Melas:
