What do you need to know? The MM8 is still a current product.

the USB port....can it be used to import new sounds? I have an older Western Digital My Passport portable hard drive. Thinking of loading sounds onto the WD then putting those sounds on the MM8. Never tried anything like this...so would it work?

The MM8 does not have the ability load or create new User Voices. Sorry.

You can use the USB TO HOST port to connect you MM8 to a computer for MIDI communication
You can use the USB TO DEVICE port to connect to a compatible USB drive - the types of data that can be stored include Performance data, User Songs, and Pattern file - these will be stored in a USER File.

I'd like to get more sounds out of my MM8.
I'm looking at getting a Kurzweil 1000 PX Plus rack mount.

Can I use the sounds in the rack mount and play them using the MM8?

sort of doubling the number of sounds...if that makes sense....or put another way...adding a synth to a synth.
