When trying to upload a local file as an avatar in my profile, it keeps telling me:
"Full name empty."
and nothing is uploaded. Tried it with jpg and png and different sizes.
Doesn't seem to work at all.

Same problem here using Firefox (Windows), Edge (Windows), Chrome (Android):

Yamahasynth is using Easydiscuss - https://stackideas.com/easydiscuss
It looks like easydiscuss requires a "full name" field to be filled out in order to update and save a profile, including the avatar.
My guess is that the "Account" tab has been disabled - this is the place where the "full name" field appears:
To see what I mean, visit this link then click "Quick Access" in the right menu bar, select one of the profiles then select "Edit Profile":

Hi,
I would also like yo upload an avatar please, but I am still not able to? If I email it to you directly would you be kind enough to upload it for me please?
Also, how do I subscribe to threads in which I have asked a question ( as in this one) please? I would like to receive notifications.

My picture is blank because I tried to swap it and hit this same issue. Seems this will not be fixed soon.
May I apply an average level of kindness in requesting assistance? I’d use more, but I’m hording some due to all that is happening in this crazy mixed-up world.
