SPAM Cleanup is slightly misguided

Spam is bad - but so is using a nuke to clean it up. The cleanup process chosen thus far I would guess is time-based. Anything between time X through time Y - nuke the posts. The issue is that non-spam posts have been made interleaved with the spam - so these good posts get deleted as well.

I understand why my posts are deleted. Why even Yamaha employee posts get deleted in the process. However, there is backlash for those users who do not understand and already start with frustration and have come to the forum to relieve some product use frustration. It's not factual, but they believe that their posts have been deleted for personal reasons.

This is something that may be easier to manage if, instead, posts that originate from deleted accounts are removed instead of deleting valid posts.

I'm wondering if any of these valid posts can be restored - or, hopefully, some change in response so valid posts are not taken down in the future.

Jason,
The spam cleanup has been a manual process, but due to the volume posts may have inadvertently been deleted/unpublished for a short bit. There are a lot of initiatives underway to combat the spam issue, and the results that we're seeing so far have been positive. We're not quite all the way there yet - but we are seeing massive improvements.

We have combed back through all the unpublished spam entries to ensure no "legit" posts have also been unpublished.

As always, thank you for your participation in the forum.

Best,
Amy - Community Coordinator
