Is there a reason why the Yamaha Chord Tracker App does not read any of the songs on my phone? all of them show: "This Data cannot be selected"?

What is the point of the app if I cannot use it?

From the ChordTracker documentation:

"Songs protected by DRM (Digital Rights Management) cannot be used in this application."

Are the songs protected by DRM?

If they are songs you have purchased they can be converted using Chord Tracker

Read about DRM here

I have the same problem. All of my songs I have bought, is showing “This data Cannon be selected”
I can’t find out, what is wrong. I had even spoken to Yamaha, without any solution.

Same answer. You must own the downloaded songs.

That is not an error message found in the app, I will assume a typo. I can’t give you an answer either because you gave us no details about the song or where you purchased it. If you have some subscription to a music service then I highly recommend you read the license agreement (I’m not a lawyer, but I’ve certainly purchased the thousands of titles on my iPhone and have not found even one that is not convertible, not yet, I certainly haven’t tried them all.)

My guess is you have purchased a subscription that allows you to “listen” to music...
you don’t have to share where you got them if you don’t want to but that maybe the reason. I’ve personally never run into a DRM Song... I’ll try to find out when that warning actually appears...

do you own any CDs... try transferring (ripping) them to your i-Device... see if they work. Let us know.

Hello again. Thanks for your answer
I have about 200 cd´s from my early years. They are all ripping into iTunes.
not one, of them can be used in chord tracker. its all them same text.
This data cannot be selected. I have contact to apple, they said, contact yamaha.
hmm I must be doing something wrong, maybe when I ripping the cd´s

I'm at a loss to explain this then. I will have to ask - I've never had an issue with it not being able to access any music. I will look into it and report what I find.

I have several CD's I have ripped for which I get the same message when I try to open them in Chord Tracker. The vast majority of the CD tunes I have ripped work just fine, but these are some that are fairly obscure (by a long-disbanded group called Uncle Walt's Band). I have had a few (less than 10 out of several thousand) that I bought through iTunes which don't work either. My understanding is that iTunes does not use DRM.

On both of my iPhones, the issue is the same...
Every song that I ripped from a cd works...
Every song downloaded from Apple Music doesn't.

So I just spent the last hour on tech support with Apple, and they confirm that all songs downloaded from Apple Music AND all songs purchased through the iTunes store are indeed DRM protected... and therefore cannot be used with Chord Tracker.

So if you want to use Chord Tracker, you need to purchase the cd and rip it, (or download a non-DRM MP3, MP4 or wav etc.), and then load the song into your Apple Music library.

And this is interesting...
If I delete (not just remove from Library, but fully delete) a song that I had originally ripped,
and then download that same song from Apple Music,
it still works in Chord Tracker.
It seems that Apple keeps track of which songs were originally ripped, even if you delete them.

Hope this helps someone else avoid an hour on Apple tech support.

If you want to use Apple Music on Yamaha Chord Tracker, then you need to get them as plain audio files first as they are protected by right protection. To make it, you also need to use tools like DRmare Apple Music File Converter to help you.

Same problem. Iphone 11 all updated, but the app have problems recognicing the library. Some time it does with some songs and some time it does t. Even if you download the song the app don´t see it, Even if it recongice the song, a message show that the audio cannot be selected.
