I just noticed that there's a new F/W (V1.12) available for the MOXF at Yamaha's official download site.
It seems the update was mainly released to fix any audio issues that occurred in conjunction with Apple iOS 10.
Even if no iPad is used, I guess it's always a good idea to apply the latest version - you never know what has been fixed in addition.

This brings the current products to full compatibility with iOS 10
The Montage had no issues
The MOXF required this firmware update (1.12)
The MX BK/BU required a different flashed system ROM
All current iOS capable Yamaha Synths should now be fully compatible.
