Got a weird problem. Every key I play on the Montage is being recorded as 5 notes in Cubase (5 duplicate notes: all with the same start, end, duration, velocity). The Montage is connected via USB. I thought maybe something was misconfigured in Cubase and I went thru every option for MIDI. I tried turning off all but the first MIDI input from the Montage, turning off all the MIDI outputs, removing all Montage inputs from the "All" midi group, and then recording from just the first Montage input. No luck. When I tried using my Access Virus TI over USB with Cubase, only one MIDI note was recorded for each key press. I'm running the latest OS on the Montage and the Yamaha v1.9.9 USB driver. My PC OS is Windows 10. I tried both Cubase Pro 8 and Cubase Pro 9. Both had the same problem with the Montage. I'm really not sure what else to try. Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated.

This is because you are playing a Performance with five Parts and the MIDI I/O Mode is set to MULTI. The Montage is able to transmit on as many as eight MIDI channels simultaneously. It's very likely that your other synth can only transmit on a single MIDI channel at a time. If that is what you require from your Montage you can setup to transmit and receive on a SINGLE Channel.
Depending on your goal, which you do not state, nor do you mention which Performance you are attempting... but let's say you recall the Montage's first Performance: "CFX + FM EP"
It is five Parts, four are acoustic piano, and when you move the Super Knob you morph to Part five the electric piano. If you are recording this to your DAW (Cubase) as MIDI, and you wish to edit it you should change the Montage's MIDI I/O mode to Single.
Press [UTILITY]
Touch "Settings" > "Advanced"
If you've updated your Montage to the latest firmware, you'll find "MIDI I/O mode"
Touch the Single box and select a MIDI CHANNEL 1-16 on which you'd like to Send Out and Receive In

You would use the Single MIDI I/O mode when performing a solo recording where you are playing a multiple Part single instrument sound. That is, the Performance is made up of multiple Part slots and all the Parts go toward creating a real time keyboard performable sound. Example would be the "CFX FM EP", "Seattle Sections", etc.
There are multiple Part Performances where you want separate MIDI channel... say one or more Parts are under control of the eighth available Arpeggiators. Examples would be "DJ Montage", "Kreuzberg Funk". Here quite naturally, you'll want to record each Part on a separate MIDI Channel... keeping the drums separate from the bass, and so on.
Montage is capable of transmitting (and receiving) your real time keyboard performance on as many as 8 channels simultaneously- you have to decide what it is you want to do with the MIDI data. Actually, if you are not going to edit it, you might as well record it immediately as Audio, via Montages 32 bus audio outs. However, if you require to edit your playing BEFORE rendering it as Audio, you'll want to set your five Part Performance to MIDI I/O mode = Single, then you can edit a single channel stream of data.
