No, not as far as I know, the USB Port on the reface is to connect to a "host" device (computer, laptop or tablet/smartphone). When you want to connect to the reface from a controllerdevice (like an external keybd controller) use the breakout cable that gives you 5-pin MIDI IN/OUT.

The Kenton MIDI USB Host allows you to control your Reface CP with any USB-powered keyboard (or other USB MIDI controller) without the need for a "host" computer (the Kenton device is the host).

I tested this with a Korg MicroKEY (37 mini keys). Functionally it adds a standard 5-pin MIDI OUT to the "USB-only" device. Somewhat pricey, but solves the problem without a using a computer.

1. The MIDI USB Host comes with a switching AC adapter which puts out 5 volts at a standard (rectangular) USB jack, and a cable which has a standard USB plug on one one and a USB mini B plug on the other end. The mini B plugs into the MIDI USB PORT and provides it with power.

2. The MIDI USB Host has 3 additional ports:
(a) a standard USB port. You plug your USB midi controller into this
(b) a standard MIDI OUT port. You use this to connect the MIDI USB Host to whatever you want it to control (e.g. the MIDI IN port on your Reface CP's breakout cable
(c) a standard MIDI IN port. You don't need to use that in this scenario.

Hi I am having trouble setting up this same scenario except with a Roland A-49 controller.

I followed the steps below to allow the A-49 to use a generic driver.

Not sure what I am doing wrong.

Use the + / -  buttons to make the setting:

+ (lit): Advanced Driver - this setting requires a Roland USB driver to be installed on the computer.
- (lit): Generic Driver - this setting uses the driver in your computer's operating system.
4. Re-start the A-49 to finalize the setting.
