Hi, new to FM sound, enjoying what I've learnt so far and it's making sense, bought a DX to play around with and make it easier to create sounds and music.

I'm writing music targeting the YM2612 chip. This chip has a sine LFO feature which can generate frequencies of 3.98, 5.56, 6.02, 6.37, 6.88, 9.63, 48.1 and 72.2Hz.

I see on the DX there are settings for speed, PMD and AMD. What I don't understand is how to get the DX LFO set up so it generates only those frequencies I need for the target sound chip, as I want to get settings as close as possible. There doesn't seem to be a setting on the DX where I can put in the desired frequency and be done with it.

Can anyone shed any light on this? Is there a listing of which speed is which Hz anywhere? Cheers.

I think I can help. For my "DXconvert" and "Reface DX Legacy Project" I did a lot of measurements on the Reface DX LFO frequencies. I can post a table with the LFO speed parameter values 0-127 and the corresponding frequencies in Hz according to my measurements. I have the data on my home computer not within reach right now. I will be back here later to post the table.

Thanks for this information, it's really useful. I guess I'll have to use the ones that do have approximate frequencies on the Reface for design purposes and then tweak things once transferred to the real chip using its native frequencies to see how it sounds.
