Thanks for your article. Any feedback is appreciated. - The Reface DX Legacy maintainer
Several of the Reface DX Legacy Project patches had totally wrong LFO speed values. Try the DX100 Helicopter preset for example. I just fixed a bug in TXconvert that was responsible for this. If you want more accurately converted LFO speed values please download the latest updated files from http://refacedx.martintarenskeen.nl
Hi there!
I can upload the sysex files to the DX using the ctrlr reface DX panel without any problems. I find the panel is a very useful tool for archiving ones own patches also.
The massive patch library Martin compiled is very inspiring and interesting, also for historical reasons. I am not sure if it is realistic to expect a 1 to 1 reproduction of the sounds of the different machines on the reface DX, but nevertheless, many of the patches are very inspiring starting points for ones own creations. It is also very interesting to study how the different sounds are achieved. For instance, it is nice to see that with specific operator frequencies, it is indeed possible to obtain noise-like timbres on the DX which I thought would not be possible.
Thanks!
