hello,
i'm considering buying a reface cs, but I would like to know if it is possible to use another keyboard as input instead of the built-in mini-keys.
thank you

Yes, of course, make sure the other keyboard has MIDI ports.

one more question: can the reface cs work as a midi controller? I mean, can I connect it to a pc, iphone or ipad and use sampletank's (or other app's) library?

thanks for your help

Yes. The reface can all be used as MIDI controllers. They come with both USB and standard 5-pin MIDI (via an included breakout cable).

Just wondering .... If I would own two RefaceDX keyboards how could I connect them together directly? USB cable? MIDI cable? How?

You could connect them using midi:

Reface#1 midi out to Reface#2 midi in

When you play Reface#1, it will now play the sound from both Reface#1 and Reface#2 (unless you switch off local control on Reface#1).

If you use a DAW, you could connect them virtually, both through USB to the computer. Or a combination of USB and midi. It depends on what you want to do, and how you want to do it.

Sure, I am smart enough to understand that without asking. But this requires 2 Reface-MIDI breakout cables + one (or two if I want to connect in both directions) normal MIDI cables. I am sure it works, but it sounds like asking for problems. I was hoping a special USB or MIDI cable would exist to allow a connection with only one single solid cable.
P.S: The mini-midi-connectors-with-adaptor-cable were not a great design choice in my opinion. Very much non-standard. I hope Yamaha will have enough spare cables in stock when we need replacement somewhere in the future.

I agree, not a great choice. Do we know what the part number is?
