When playing the first of the organ voices, I noticed that if I play it legato, after the third note, the percussion on note down isn't played anymore (that's the best description I can came up with, I hope it's clear).

Is there a way to make all the notes play without percussion for the very first key pressed?

The percussion on a B3 exhibits a mono behavior, if you play legato on a B3 percussion only happens on the first key-on, all additional notes played legato will not have percussion, until you release all keys... Then the next attached key will have percussion. Hit it and Quit it you get percussion. Legato play defeats percussion.

The B3 uses the 1' tone generator to create the percussion sound. The programmers went through get pains to mimic this authentic B3 behavior. So that the percussion can be used to "speak" like a B3.

You can, of course, edit the sound. If the sound you are talking about is "16+8+5&1/3" the percussion is Element 2 you can either lower is volume or turn the Element Off.

Are you using the "Yamaha S90 XS/S70 XS Editor VST/Standalone"?
You can see that Element 2 is the 2 2/3' wave made short to give the musical 5th Perc tone. Silence that Element and you've eliminated the Percussion. You could program that to be turned On/Off via an Assignable Function button. For example, set Element 2 do that it only sounds when both [AF] are Off - "All AF off" this way when you don't want percussion you can engage an AF button.

Hey! Never wanted to say that percussion effect is useless 😉

I like it, but we're putting together a version of Where Do The Children Play (Cat Stevens), and that organ voice, with its softness fits perfectly in our mix, with the exception of that percussive attach - that, not to mention, would kick in each time I make a mistake and lose the legato 😀

Mmh, not (yet).
But I've found that when in edit mode, if I press the volume/pan/etc. button 'till the green light goes off, I can edit the elements straight from the synth (can't recall where I read it, though, I was sure it was in the owner manual, but I can't seem to find that portion again 🙁 ).
I've turned that element to 0 with the slider, and... man that's exactly what I was looking for!

Thank you very much, as usual I'm in a hurry as I need this for tomorrow 🙂
