I've been trying to establish authoritatively the analog output specs of some older Yamaha FM synthesizer midi modules, but the owner's manuals are insufficient. My best current understanding is that the following synthesizers:
TG77
TX7
TX81Z
have unbalanced outputs at a +4dBu line level. Does anyone have reliable info to the contrary of that?
Thanks,
Joe
For more information on products this old, you might want to contact Yamaha Customer Service department.
They are certainly all unbalanced outputs. And would all be considered LINE level. But as to whether they are 0, +4 or +6dBu your best bet is to contact the service department.
DX7 & SY77 line level: -10dBm at 600 ohms load or 0.1mW
TX7 test 1: the volume will be at maximum about 250mV
Formula dBm to volts: 0.775 x 10^(-10/20) = 0.245V
thanks. dBm is a power measure, not a voltage measure, but I can see now that it is calibrated so that 0dBm is the power dissipated by a voltage drop of 0dBu over a 600 ohm load, so 0dBm at 600 ohms is a voltage of 0dBu.
