Limited in editing.... how can I use my PC to edit the TX7?
Can I add other DX7 sounds from the internet and how do I do it?
Im more familiar with keyboards than PCs
thanx anyone?
The TX7 dates back to 1985 - I know of no computer software that has survived the 30 years since that time. There were two methods to get data into and out of the TX7: Cassette interface (audio data transfer _ sounded like static on the radio but was used to backup and restore program data)
MIDI Bulk Dump (stored as System Exclusive data)
that said, I can only speak for what Yamaha has (or in this case: does not have)... If a third party has an editor for the TX7, I am not aware of it. But if you find any software that is available for the TX7's sibling (DX7) -- the TX7 shares the same protocol. So it should, in theory, work.
what about Fm-alive.com the DX Manager for editing the DX and Tx series?
Sorry, I am not familiar with this at all.
Most simple way is a tool like midi-ox and a decent usb-midi interface to send the files.
Jon Morgan's DX Manager is an excellent editor and librarian for classic FM synths.
Dexed is a multi-platform plugin synth that you can use as DX7/TX7 patch editor.
Best of luck!
