Heloo everybody!
I have a Yamaha A300 Oriental synthesizer and I wonder if it is possible to connect it to my computer and play sounds from the virtual synth Sylenth1 that is installed on my computer. In other words, can I use my Yamaha A300 as a MIDI-keyboard? In case it is possible I have another question: Is it possible to play micro-tones with the sounds of Sylenth1? The Yamaha A300 is especially prepared to play micro-tones, but will Sylenth1 work smoothly with it and play the micro-tones?
Welcome to Yamaha Synth!
We moved your post here, (it was certainly inappropriate as Synews), in fact the PSR-A300 is not a synthesizer at all. (And is therefore off topic for this entire site!) - we cannot answer your question, but can give you the following advice.
Sorry, we are not familiar with this particular model. But you should be able to contact Yamaha Customer Support directly about this model, for information about whether or not the micro tuning is transmitted out via MIDI. And you would certainly need to consult the maker of the receiving device as to whether it could receive such information. Even if your keyboard transmitted it, it is necessary that the receiving device be able to receive and respond to this.
Most keyboards do not transmit their own tuning OUT via MIDI (it would certainly be outlined in the Owner's Manual) but again, this is not a model I'm familiar with. The easiest way to find out is to connect it, and try it. You cannot hurt anything. It will either work, or it will not. Easy enough for you to check, yourself.
Contact Yamaha Customer Support (PSR) by phone or email.
Hope that is some what helpful, even though it is not a synthesizer.
