Just received mine today and working through it. Do the acoustic pianos have sympathetic resonance? I checked and they do not seem to...nonetheless they sound very nice.
Hello,
YC61 does have a damper pedal resonance effect that you can assign to the acoustic piano in Keys A or B simulates resonance when the damper pedal is engaged. It'll show up on the LED as "dr" when engaged and the depth and rate control how much of the effect is added when the damper pedal is pressed.
Hope that helps.
Thanks Blake...yes was aware of the damper resonance effect. It is sort of funky though...if you pump the sustain pedal the resonance sound fades the last notes played in and out. I'm guessing it saves a lot of memory not to have to sample all of the different string resonances...for me it's not a big deal but I know there are other competitive keyboard brands that have this...just thought the YC would have it too. Then again the YC has many other things the competitors don't have. It is a very easy keyboard to connect to...really enjoying it.
The flagship products don't have this either and the CP piano-focused products haven't had these. Some other digital piano products (like portable) from Yamaha have simulated string resonance. Then there's VRM which a different modeling of body/soundboard resonances found in Clavinova and Arius.
I'm not sure any there's the DSP power to model string resonance in either the flagship synth nor current gen YC or CP.
