I do see a question that I'm guessing is yours that I missed: Is it about the ability to customize drawbar arrangements? My answer to that is I'm not sure what you are asking. You mean change the footage?

Hey Blake...this is the other Jim here...aka Counterpoint on the IdeaScale. First, I thought you did a great job today...I know it was geared toward new and prospective YC-ers so didn't expect you to get into the nitty gritty of things proposed here and at the IdeaScale by those of us who have already had a chance to deep dive on the YC...and I know you need to keep a lid on such things.

I was the one, though, that asked the question about drawbar customization. I understand the instrument is not currently capable of doing this but I am hopeful the hardware is arranged in such a way that future OS updates might allow a user to customize drawbar footage locations for the "F" organs. I have made the point elsewhere that I feel the F3 organ set-up, in particular, is a little awkward with an 8' voice on the farthest left drawbar then two 16' drawbars to its right. It would be nice to be able to rearrange this and maybe alter the mix of sine versus other waves produced by the eight FM operators to create custom transistor organ sounds. The YC is a fantastic instrument and I'm very happy I purchased it but coming from a Nord Electro, the transistor organ emulations are the one area where I think the YC clearly falls short of the Nord (of course sampling too but I bought this expecting and understanding that it will never have that capability). The ability to customize organ drawbar set-ups would turn this into an advantage for the YC IMO. Thanks again...Jim J (aka Counterpoint)

Sometimes requests are out of scope; sometime they are possible but need more research and sometimes they are as simple as a OS update. Your idea can be evaluated properly because you joined a community set up for sharing and suggesting ideas that get lost in a forum or chat room. IdeaScale is administered by Ben Israel at Yamaha CRD (Content, Research, Development) You should check out our podcast with Ben Israel on Sound Cloud (Like! Subscribe!). Ben's very cool and interesting and you'll get some insight into the process at Yamaha. Anyway, I get your idea and it completely makes sense. I'll make sure it gets the proper attention.

Trying to answer lots of questions during Tech Talk Live is a bit challenging as I am trying to talk to the camera, run my streaming software/hardware system (that is constantly evolving in the endless quest for better production tools and understanding) and just very hard to be live and read the sidebar comments window without pause. And things like product suggestions, or "is Yamaha going to add this technology to this product", or anything like that is hard for me to respond to during the livestream However, we do have Yamaha peeps in the chat area (Dom was there today!) and they try to address things there as much as they can.

Sorry to put Blake on the spot, but a recent episode of Behind the Synth revealed that one of his first instruments was a Farfisa. So, I'd definitely believe him when he says he gets it. 🙂
