Bad Mister - You mentioned the Reface YC has an Easter Egg whereas the Modulation Wheel allows you to switch the Rotary Speed between Slow and Fast. (Thanks for that!) Are there other Easter Eggs hidden in the Reface basket? Personally, I'm most interested in the YC and CP, as those are the Reface models I have, but I'm sure people here would like to know about the others, as well.

Yes, i recently discovered that if you switch on the Dx while pressing the highest key, the device will make a factory reset. This is not documented and I have lost all my patches wtf...

@Blair...
They wouldn't be Easter Eggs if I revealed them all... 🙂 However, as they become apparent we'll pass them along

@Hendrik
Sorry, you've lost your programs, but Page 40 of the Owner's Manual clearly states the purpose and consequences of the Factory Set.
Page 41 outlines all of the various Power up routines. DX and CS (units with the looper) have new features added with version update 1.20 and have a Supplemental Manual for the new version features.

Hi everyone and Bad Mister. 1st post.

I think i have found a hidden sound on the reface CP!

youtube link:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASgDOqRq5dg

I turned on the reface with it set to RD1 and the sound coming out was an acoustic piano!

I dont know how I got to this setting and it returned to the normal rhodes sound as soon as i switched away to another sound.

Its driving me nuts trying to get it back to acoustic piano.

Maybe it was a hidden easter egg secret sound in the latest firmware update 1.30?

Anyone know how to get it back?

I don't know what you've found, this is your experience. If you find it again, then I'll comment.

Thanks @BadMister. Sorry I don't quite understand your reply. "I don't know what you've found"

I was trying to draw your attention to a youtube video where i film my Reface CP producing an acoustic piano sound. As you know, the CP doesn't have an acoustic piano sound so I was wondering how this mode happened or was activated.

This is what I have found:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASgDOqRq5dg
or
https://youtu.be/JVmmhfbYmGE

and finding it again is where i have i am having difficulty. I joined this forum as a first time Yamaha customer, hoping someone at Yamaha or this forum would have the knowledge of these keyboards to help me.

BadMister, I have been able to find it, and can reproduce it. Would you like to comment now?

Thanks!
Martin

ok, mystery solved. user cpatz at a gearslutz forum said

"Someone try this: turn the sound selector so it's in between two positions and see if you get the acoustic piano."

martinez21 found

Turn off the CP.
Place the instrument selector button midway between any two instruments.
Make sure it stays there when you take your hand away.
Turn on the CP.
You now have an acoustic piano sound. The instrument indicator will state RdI, even if it's actually between Clv and Toy, for example.
Turn the knob either way and it will revert to the selected instrument.

I know there's a lot of people holding back buying a CP because they wish it had an acoustic piano sound. SO here it is, you can happily buy them by the hundreds and yamaha can show me some love! 🙂

I'd love a firmware update of some kind to choose this sound in an easier way than this knob balancing and power cycle. Option to overwrite toy piano maybe? Or keypress on startup?

I've been able to replicate this behavior as well. The acoustic piano samples are pretty generic and not the greatest around, but this could be certainly a useful feature, as I use my CP as a travel keyboard and ocasionally miss the basic piano sounds. I'd looove to replace the Toy piano mode with this acoustic piano.

Hi Yamaha, I bought the CP expressly for songwriting on the road, please think about including a basic piano sound as standard and not an easter egg. Maybe the easter egg could be a Bosendorfer. Just kidding. Thanks good product.

It would be fine if acoustic piano loaded default just after turn on Reface CP without change Toy Piano Preset.
And respond on MIDI Program Change of course.

May by easter Eggs on Reface YC, especially strings-organ?? ))
