Version 2.00 due Wednesday February 7th will allow you to load either USER Voices or Performances from any Motif XF, Motif XS, or MOXF All Data File.

Motif XF .X3A File
VOICE: All 512 Normal and 32 Drum Kit Voices will be converted to MONTAGE Single Part Performances filling 544/640 Performance locations in the current User Bank.
PERF: All 512 Performances will be converted to MONTAGE as four Part (Multi) Performances filling 512/640 Performance locations

Motif XS .X0A File
VOICE: All 384 Normal and 32 Drum Kit Voices. 416/640
PERF: All 384 Performances will be converted to MONTAGE as four Part (Multi) Performances 384/640

MOXF .X6A File
VOICE: All 384 Normal and 32 Drum Kit Voices. 416/640
PERF: All 256 Performances will be converted to MONTAGE as four Part (Multi) Performances 256/640

This will include all the Voices, Arpeggios (256) and Waveforms* (2048) that make them work.
* this does not include converting any 8-bit, LPC or WXC file formats of older (legacy) Yamaha gear.

What if the sum of the Normal and Drum Kit Voices plus the XF Performances is greater than 640?

It’s either voices or performances, not both at the same time. You have to choose when you import.

Hello - had a Motif XS back in the day, some nice Pfs there, so I'd certainly want them ... point is, where would I get them from? Are all the Montage-converted files going to be on the Yamahasynth site for download? Or will they be on EasySounds?

Excited to have 'Bristol and '2 guitars for Mrs R' back from my XS days, loved those performances and spent many hours playing them.

However, I have a question; if all the XS/XF voices are already in the Montage as single part performances, why would anyone choose to load the voices alone into the user area? Performances obviously are welcome, but who might choose to fill their user performances with duplicates of ROM voice data, and why?

For the ROM voices that does not make sense. But if you have other libraries you can now load them as well...

The Motif XF cannot generate 640 Performances. I listed the maximum number of User Voices (4 Banks of 128 Normal and 1 Bank of 32 Drum Kits) when you opt to “convert” VOICE, each Voice is converted to a Single Part PERFORMANCE this includes the Arps and Waveforms that make them play. If you opt to “convert” PERF, each of the 4 Banks of 128 Performances, including the VOICES, ARPS, and Waveforms.

If you owned a Motif series, you might know that Performances used to point to VOICE locations... so that Performance data was tiny in comparison, but the MONTAGE does not “point” to a VOICE location. The MONTAGE doesn’t work like that, it has way more memory than the XF - if an XF Performance is referencing a User VOICE, MONTAGE simply converts all the data used in the Performance and places it’s parameters into the converted Multi Part MONTAGE Performance.

In short, you can’t generate more than 544 MONTAGE PERFORMANCES from an XF ALL Data File when converting as “Voice”
You can’t generate more than 512 MONTAGE PERFORMANCES from an XF ALL Data File when converting as “Perf”
Remember there are no “Voices” or “Voice Mode” in MONTAGE. A four Part XF Performance will occupy four MONTAGE Parts...

PLEASE appreciate the difference. Many don’t, they think it works the same as XF, it doesn’t. It’s MONTAGE.

These Part conversions are perfect practice for the Montaging the the "new" converted legacy sound banks...., Having a blast.... responding to this last part conversion to get this back to the top of the list for my convenience. The new SuperKnop assignments make this so much easier, and a few of the videos from Namm showed just enough to for me to figure out the new shortcuts.

Excellent! We’ll get back to the series later this week... applying some of the new features added with 2.00
