In the article, this diagram shows settings for MIDI Clock Out:

MIDI Clock Follows Project Position and Always Send Start Message are unchecked. Send MIDI Clock in Stop Mode is checked. I previously had all three of these checked, with no noticeable problems.

I'd be interested in an explanation of why those parameters are shown as unchecked in this article.

Why always Cubase? Yamaha owns Steinberg and that's cool, but there are other (even better, IMHO) DAWs in the market. namely Logic, Studio One, and when electronic music is concerned, Ableton Live.

I understand the notion however the claim is not exactly true. Recently Yamaha has covered logic.

No one ever answered my question about the unchecked settings in Project Synchronization Setup.

Anyone?

You can set these options as you desire/require... the option that is checked is checked so that tempo driven activities in the slave (MONTAGE) device can take place even while the Cubase Transport is stopped.

Those are my screenshots. I want the MONTAGE to be able to play it’s Arpeggio Phrases while Cubase is not running. This way I can run through what I’m going to record without having to start Cubase every time. This means that although MONTAGE will play at the last tempo setting it received from Cubase, it will be able to run independent of starting Cubase.

I had no specific need to activate the other two options, as they don’t apply:
From the Cubase Operation Manual:

"MIDI Clock Follows Project Position - Activate this option to ensure that the MIDI clock device follows Cubase when looping, locating, or jumping while playing.

Always Send Start Message - MIDI clock transport commands include Start, Stop, and Continue. However, some MIDI devices do not recognize the Continue command. By activating the β€œAlways Send Start Message” option, you can avoid this problem with specific MIDI devices."

β€œno noticeable problems” should occur as they don’t really apply in this setup.
