Has anyone ever experienced an LCD for the MOTIF XS8 going blank?
I can power up the keyboard and play sounds but the screen is completely blank (no text) just a blue greyish color (the backlight).
The contrast knob doesn't change the screen's contrast. Also when powered on there appears to be "red" light shinning through the
USB / firewire/mlan ports section.
If anyone could give me some direction as far as a fix, it would be greatly appreciated.

You should contact an authorized repair center about a new screen. Wherever you are located you can contact Yamaha (numbers are found in the back of the Owner's Manual)

Bad misters is definitely stated the most logical and the safest solution to your problem. I'm just mentioning my own experience since min isn't that much of a big problem and sounds kind of similar.
The problem with mine was the lcd brightness dial on the back. It has loose contacts and If I touch it the goes black. I didn't bother to fix it since if it happens I just need to touch the knob and the screen comes back. Hope it helps...
