Hello, I'm a first timer to this forum and sure need some help! Recently Cubase doesn't see my Motif XS as a VST plugin . ALL else with my FW MLan setting seems normal, the editor come up But no '"external" catagory shows in the plug in instrument list. This situation repaired itself on one occasion but know I don't seem to understand what a troubshoot would entail. I hope this problem has been dealt with before. Thank you Kenny Day

Hi Kenny,
Welcome to Yamaha Synth. We moved your post to the LEGACY forum, because the Motif XS qualifies - (the Rack XS is still a current product, while the Motif XS is now "legacy").

We'd be happy to help you but need a bit more information about your setup. Please provide the following information:
Your computer type and operating system
Your version of Cubase
The version of "Yamaha Steinberg FW Driver" you have installed
The version of your "Motif XS Editor Standalone/VST"
The firmware version of your Motif XS

What likely happened is you updated your computer operating system, and became "non-compliant". That's a computer geek term for your stuff no longer will run properly because of a mismatch of versions... eventually all old software becomes non-compliant... because computers are always shifting ground.

For example, the Motif XS dates back to some version of Cubase (2007-2010), that may not be able to run properly on your computer's current OS... It become imperative as you stretch the time from your software's initial release and the current computer OS.

This could be your issue, as it used run, but now does not... we'll start with the checklist above, then offer you a solution. Let us know.

Hello and thanks My setup is MacbookPro OS 10.12.4, Cubase 9.0.20 FW ver1.7.5 editor ver 1.6.6 firmware 1394 ver 1.07 and Motif OS ver 1,60 FYI It's working fine on the PC version . I can't come up with any point in time where changes were made to trigger the problem. I had been on el Capitan for 2 months when I noticed it I hope this can be of some help Thanks, Kenny

You may need to just Refresh/Rescan for your Motif XS Editor VST

Although this is a Cubase issue, if I recall you need to go to DEVICES > PLUG-IN MANAGER > find the "Motif XS VST" listed under VST INSTRUMENTS You may need to Reactivate it.

Some of your installed plug-ins may initially appear on the Blacklist tab... (32-bit versions are no longer supported)
Reactivating your Motif XS VST should solve the issue.

Let us know. If you still have an issue contact Steinberg via your MySteinberg Account.

Hello, YES! That did it. It's funny how I , thinking this had to be a deep complicated thing, did not think to check the Blacklist! Phil, thank you so much! Kenny Day
